The deal with ozone
Here is the problem: most shortwave IR lamps leak energy into the UV spectrum. When that UV light hits oxygen, it creates ozone (O3). In a sealed cleanroom, that buildup is a total failure. We solve this by using quartz envelopes that filter out those specific UV wavelengths. You get all the thermal energy you need, but none of the chemical reactions that mess up your environment.
What’s under the hood
We use high-purity fused silica for the tubes. It’s tough. It handles thermal shock without breaking and—more importantly—it doesn’t shed microscopic particles as it heats up and cools down. We also make sure the filament is centered perfectly. That means you get a steady, uniform heat across the whole tube, no hot spots. And we’re picky about the assembly. You won’t find any organic adhesives or cheap coatings on our lamps. Those things usually burn off during the first few hours of use, leaving a mess. Instead, everything is baked and cleaned until there’s absolutely nothing left on the glass.
A few things to watch out for
These lamps are fast and clean, but quartz has its quirks. Specifically, it expands when it gets hot. If you clamp the tubes too tightly into your fixture, they’re going to snap the moment you ramp up the heat. It’s a frustrating way to end a workday. **Use spring-loaded mounts.**Give the glass some room to breathe.
