
Keeping Your Outdoor Heaters Alive in the Rain and Humidity
Most outdoor heaters have a breaking point. Usually, it happens the moment moisture sneaks into the electrical contacts or condensation fogs up the emitter. It’s frustrating. You spend the money, install the gear, and then one bad storm kills the whole system. We wanted to stop that. So, we built our infrared heaters with an IP66 rating. In plain English? We basically put the heating element in a fortress to keep the elements out. What does IP66 actually do for you? It means the unit is totally dust-tight and can handle a direct blast from a high-pressure water jet without flinching. We used heavy-duty sealed gaskets and a specific housing design to make sure splashes never touch the internal wiring. But it’s not just about the rain. Think about fog. When tiny water droplets form on a scorching hot infrared tube, they create these little cold spots. That creates “thermal shock,” and that’s exactly how quartz glass cracks. By keeping the insides bone-dry, we stop that cycle before it starts. No cracks, no failures. Built to actually last Nobody wants a heater that rusts through in two seasons, especially if you’re near the ocean or in a humid climate. We used corrosion-proof casings and moisture-resistant seals so you aren’t scrubbing rust off your equipment. Inside, the circuitry is potted or shielded. It’s a “set it and forget it” kind of deal—no constant cleaning or replacing parts because of oxidation. A few things to keep in mind Here’s the trade-off: when you seal something this tightly to keep water out, the air doesn’t move as freely. This means heat can build up inside the chassis more than it would in a cheap, open-air model. Because of that, you’ll want to be smart about your mounting brackets. Give the back of the unit some breathing room. If you cram these into a tight, confined space, you might trip the thermal cut-off. One last tip: make sure your external cabling is rated for the same environment and that everything is properly grounded. The IP66 shell does its job perfectly, but the seal is only as strong as the wires you plug into it. Do that, and your heating elements will last way longer because they aren’t fighting a losing battle against the weather.
